growing in faith...

Vision Statement

Because we are people of faith who believe in a Creator God who loves creation, (including the rivers, fields and forests, animals, and every human being in the world), and because we believe in Jesus Christ, who restored dignity and life to those that society degraded, and cleansed the greedy and hard-hearted, we dedicate our work on Freedom Farm to the vision of a beloved community, where all are liberated from oppression and are free to celebrate their sacred unity and diversity.

Mission Statement:

Freedom Farm Community is a Christian-based youth education organization striving for peace and justice by teaching alternatives to violence, sustainable agriculture, and helping youth discover God’s transformative love for each of us and for one another.

Freedom Farm is a place for:

1.  Youth groups, college groups, and church groups to retreat, reflect, and

plan action that will reduce violence and cultivate peace in individual

lives, communities, and the world.  Example discussion topics might

include:  racism, cycles of violence, conflict resolution, environmental sustainability, and liberation theology (i.e. relate Jesus’ parables to our

        lives)

2.  Organic Gardening for education, sustenance, and sharing

Reaching out to youth with little access to green space and fresh organic

produce through projects such as:

*youth experiencing the benefits of sustainable agriculture by

learning about the connection between the wellness of the

earth and of our bodies

*youth harvesting and preparing organic produce to eat at Freedom

Farm

*youth harvesting and sharing produce with their families,

neighborhood, and people who are hungry

3.  Community  Building

Bringing together people from all walks of life in an effort to break down

barriers that perpetuate misunderstanding, injustice, and violence, and

build bridges of peace, grounded in our common identity as children of

God
